How can I have internet in two buildings?

I've got a cable modem & wireless router in one building and a long ethernet cord coming from the router to the second building. I want to be able to connect multiple devices in the second building. i tried hooking to cord from the first router into another wired router in the second building but the computer would not connect to the internet. Does anyone have any ideas? (The wifi from the first building barely reaches the second building)
